It was an interesting weekend at Bardowie. I had never been there before and it is one of the smallest places i have ever sailed. On Saturday there was almost no wind, and it came from two directions. Some people went out to mess around in the morning. In the afternoon we tried to race but could not as the wind kept dying.
On Sunday it was just as sunny as Saturday and the bacon rolls were just as good. Sadly, when we arrived the loch was just as mirror-like as on Saturday. We all messed around on shore until about lunchtime. In the afternoon there was still no wind but the race team made us launch anyway. When we got to them there was some wind but it was very shifty. They eventually started the races in the shifty and patchy breeze.
In the first race I did not do so well as I did not understand the shifts. My friend Danny won by miles having overtaken Anna. The second and third races were in a bit more breeze and I did a bit better. My brother won the second race after overtaking me on the last beat, but I won the last race after overtaking Ruaraidh. In the end it was Danny that won, James beat me to be second overall and I came third. That meant that the top three were all from the Royal Tay.
In the Regatta Fleet Andrew won all the races and sometimes kept up with the main fleet sailors. Bea from the home club came second in their club boat.
Thank you to the sponsors and the organisers of the event.
