Wind, waves, a little bit of rain, but plenty of fun for the Wednesday night yacht racers in Plymouth this week. A snappy Southerly wind was blowing into the Sound brought a chill more like Scotland than Devon so race officer, Keith Davies, went for one round the cans race and then take a favourable shift into the bar!
Off the start line the Mumm 36 and J80 smashed the port tack flyer as, it would of been rude not to. The committee boat was a members boat this week so an extra bit of pin bias was used to keep boats away.
Flying around the sound, every one got a great bit of sailing in, the 1720 had a blazing Spinnaker reach peaking speeds in the mid teens until the had a small hickup and ended up on their side!
At the end of the day the scores on the doors was a win for the J24 Unity Let's in Irc, showing again these little boats stunning speed. In Port Handicap the J80 Joie de Vivre kept the chocolates for the J boats keeping the little MG Sprint off her tail.
Well done to all competitors on a great night out there.
