Morris Finance Sydney 38 Australian Championship trifecta

Geelong's Phoenix crew were declared Sydney 38 Australian Champions for the third time when they tidied up the one design class' national series at the 175th anniversary Festival of Sails run over the Australia Day long weekend.

The Mollison family's Sierra Chainsaw from across the bay at Sandringham went within striking distance early in the nine race windward/leeward series staged on an inner Corio Bay track, but in the end a nine-point separation gave the Phoenix crew some well-earned breathing room.
