Another day, another trophy. Clocks went back overnight so those that entered on Saturday could get an extra hour in bed for much of the same. Same rules, probably the same boats with same skippers, and just maybe a couple of additions.

David from Wales couldn't attend, and we had a new skipper also from the Leeds and Huddersfield club David Geldard.

Without the drizzle from yesterday, but also with not only less wind, but hardly any wind. As the races were taking so long throughout the day, only 1 full round was completed, whereby every one had sailed against each other.

Although this may look like a simple class, there are still strict rules to boat specifications etc... and also how to stand without moving one's feet when fending the boat away from the shore. (see video from the previous day).

Today's trophy was for the Northern District Championship. Damian took the day with 12 whopping points from just a couple of races - well done Damian.

Northern District Championship Results:

1 Damian Akroyd, 12pts
2 Eddie Greenwood, 7pts
3 Peter Whiteside, 5pts
4 David Geldard, 3pts

Commodore Cup Results: (combined for the weekend)

1 Damian Akroyd
2 David Bell
3 Peter Whiteside
4 Eddie Greenwood
5 David Geldard

No question on rig size - the smallest D rigs were chosen For today's racing the wind was very much in the upper numbers. The forecast was for it to drop but with 20 - 25 knits and direction NW. No question on rig size - the smallest D rig. Posted on 27 Mar

With no direct control, is this a dark art, or more of a lottery? With a crosswind of about 10MPH, we had 6 Skippers for the first Vane boat event of the year, the small 36 ers. Olly had joined us for the day, to see what all the excitement was about, but for some not quite as straightforward as one would believe. Posted on 25 Mar
