In a move to extend the number of boats racing and to provide attractive sailing options for all its members, MNSC has added a second keelboat class to its wide ranging fleet of classic and asymmetric dinghies and Flying 15 keelboats.

Styled along the lines of the 12 metre yacht 'Lionheart', the Illusion is a 12' single-handed mini-keelboat which is perfectly suited for Middle Nene SC's lake at Thrapston near Kettering. With 160kg ballast the boat offers good stability in all weathers and the three-sail layout, plus a host of trimming options, makes for exciting sailing.

Being a strict one-design class, Illusions are very closely matched and offer highly competitive racing. The 1345 yardstick allows the boat to compete in multi-class racing. Current builder is AMStructures Ltd. in Sandown, IoW. The other clubs sailing the Illusion in the UK are Aldenham SC (Herts.), Bembridge SC (IoW) and West Kirby SC (Wirral).

For enquiries please contact , visit the website www.middlenenesc.co.uk or call in on the club's Facebook page.

Middle Nene SC is based in Thrapston, near Kettering in the East Midlands.
