This week saw 32 boats take part in Super Saturday 4 (races 7 & 8) with several Phantoms joining us from Creeksea Sailing Club for the first time.
A total of 70 boats have now competed in all 3 classes and this week saw a record 17 in the Fast handicap. Last year's Saturday racing would only see 4 or 5 boats out during the summer, so the current formula of once a month committee boat starts certainly is working.
Race 7 was a difficult start with light wind making it difficult to cross the line against the tide. James Hutton Penman and Matt Jayasekera in a RS200 had a flyer and led from the start to finish followed by Micky Wright Laser and visitor Graham Dale Jones in a Phantom.
Race 8 was again won by James and Matt followed by Jonny Beale (Laser) and Graham Dale (Phantom).
Ben Hutton Penman took the honours in both the Slow Handicap races sailing in a Tera, followed by Cadets Freddie Pitcher & Charlie Corbett in race 7 and Scott Ellis & George Rashbrook in race 8.
A very well done to Imogen Palmer in her Optimist who won both races along with Harry Courts second both of whom completed both races in what were very testing conditions for the Optimists.
Overall another great Super Saturday with big turnouts from the Toppers and Lasers. See you all again for the next one due on the 13th August with hopefully a bit more wind.
