Island Sailing Club Evening Race Series - Day 8

7 June 2016
Despite variable and light winds all day, a westerly breeze piped up for the race eight of the Evening Race Series run by the Island Sailing Club. Only one round was sailed against a strong spring tide. All classes managed to finish by 8.15 with the exception of Connie in Class 2 who decided to park on the shrape mud for a while. The first boat to finish was Barry Byham in Sonar Dolphin, closely followed by Andy Cassell in Jenny.
In Class One Peter Morton, in Salvo, who last raced on a Tuesday night when the entry fee was £1.00, was beaten into second place by Andy Hunt in Acheron.
In Class Two the ISC Commodore was heard to be delighted at his win and said he would enjoy his daily prize drinks vouchers on another night as he'd already had enough!
One boat in the XOD class caused a little confusion by sailing with a different sail number, leaving this to the Sailing Secretary to solve in the morning!
It was great to see six Flying Fifteens out racing again – We think this could be a Class best!
The strong tide meant that all boats finished in an orderly fashion presenting the race team and the spectators back at the club with a wonderful sight.
