19 XODs raced for the Alastair Easton Trophy on a lovely Saturday afternoon but with a fickle shifting breeze and a changing tide Malcolm McKeag and his race team did very well to get three races in.
The racing was competitive over a tight windward leeward type course using moveable marks and there were plenty of racing incidents.
In 5th place Paul Woodman and Olly James' X32 Ibex counted a 3rd and a 2nd but had to count a 15th in the 2nd race. Rory and Stuart Paton in X48 XL showed good mathematical progression putting a disappointing first race behind them with 9,3,1.
At the front it was very close Steve Adshead's X63 Astra edging out Phil and Jo Brewer's X9 Zest on count back by way of her race win in race 1.
In the end the consistency of Yarmouth visitor James Meaning and his crew sailing X156 Gleam won the trophy and a jeroboam of Champagne kindly provided by Alastair's family.
Results:
1st - X156 Gleam - James Meaning 4,1,4 = 9 points
2nd - X63 Astra - Steve Adshead 1,2,7 = 10 points
3rd - X9 Zest - Phil & Jo Brewer 2,5,3 = 10 points
4th - X48 XL - Rory and Stuart Paton 9,3,1 = 13 points
5th - X32 Ibex - Paul Woodman and Olly James 3,15,2 = 20 points
