The RS Tera 'Start of Seasons' event at Northampton Sailing Club saw 72 sailors take to the water. 29 Pro sailors and 43 Sports. A great turnout for the start of the year.

The forecast of strong winds from the Arctic proved something of an anti climax as the threatened "Arctic Breeze" held off. The sun shone all weekend and favourable, albeit strong winds resulted in competitive sailing. On the Saturday 2 races were planned before lunch and a further two after lunch with the possibility of a third if the conditions held.

The first race saw Jamie Rastrick take a win for the Pros and Fergus Pye for the Sport. Races 2 to 4 saw Jack Lewis dominate with wins in all 3 for the Pro Fleet. The Sport fleet shared wins between Ben Tylecote, Fergus Pye and Blake Tudor.

Day 2 commenced with a prompt 9.30 first gun followed by 4 races back to back. The threatened rain held off and the competitors were blessed with a second day of sunshine and constant strong winds.

Sophie Johnson crossed the line first in Race 5, Jack Lewis responded with wins in Races 6 and 7 in the Pros. Fergus Pye, Ralph Neville and Blake Tudor shared the wins in the Sport Fleet.

In the final race Roscoe Martin took the first spot for the Pros and Ralph Neville for the Pros.

Congrats to Jack Lewis and Fergus Pye both of Draycote Water for taking the title of Start of Seasons Champion in the Pro and Sport categories respectively.

Well deserved "Special Effort" awards went to Oliver Stratton-Brown and Thomas Humphrey.

Thanks are extended to Magic Marine for the prizes awarded to the top 1-5 Sports and 1-4 Pros.

Thanks are also sent to Northampton SC and in particular Commodore Neil Barford. They hosted a great event and as ever provided a warm welcome to both competitors and their "support crews" alike. We already look forward to returning next year!
