by Ian Payne 20 Apr 2016 14:41 BST 2 April 2016

The first of the 2016 Rooster South Coast and South East Grand Prix series took place on Saturday 2nd April at Arun Yacht Club. Twenty-six competitors arrived in Littlehampton for some close class racing on the sea. The weather was pleasant force 3 southerly, building to a 4 south-easterly.

In the standard rigs, after a general recall, Craig Williamson (Hayling Island) won from Alan Davis (Oxford) in second and Nik Froud (Royal Lymington) third. The top three competitors were separated by a tie-breaker.

Alex Bulter (Hayling Island) won all three races in the Radial fleet, with Will Birdhall (also from Hayling Island) second and Sue Ritchie (Newport) third.

The solitary Laser 4.7 helmed by Ami Jewell (Chipstead) learn a valuable lesson about black flags, but still collected a prize for her two first places.

The Rooster South Coast Laser Grand Prix series is generously sponsored by Rooster Sailing and Wildwind Sailing Holidays. For full results please visit the Rooster Sailing website.
