Phantom Open at Southport Sailing Club

by Matt Harris 12 Oct 2015 14:53 BST 11 October 2015

Sunday the 11th October saw four visitors join the two club boats for our first Phantom Open. The weather forecast wasn't in our favour with it set to blow a gale at the start of the week and then to wake up to a dead calm. In the end it turned out to be a good days sailing with winds varying from F1-F4 and although it was an easterly it wasn't completely through the town.

In the end Ed Thomas from online sailing club TB4e.com won all three races, local sailor Greg Thomas was second and Martin Knott from Ribble SC was third. A notable mention goes to Josh Cooper who was sailing in his first Phantom open.

A big thank you to everyone who helped out on the day, our event sponsor Tim Harper Boats and Sails and to all the competitors for coming along. We look forward to hosting another Phantom Open next year!
