Scottish distributors for Hyde, Chic and Nicky Medley competing in their J92 'Jammin' missed 1st place in Class 1 by a single point, coming 2nd to John Stamp's J111 'Jacob', at the north east's major regatta, this year held at Port Edgar in Scotland on the Forth estuary.
The four days of racing was an even split between passage races and laid courses, with shifty breeze ranging between 4 and 30 knots.
Said Chic, "The boat was new to us this season, and the delivery of a new suit of Hyde sails has given us the consistency that we had previously lacked. The two new jibs have helped with speed and pointing, and whilst we are now sailing without any overlapping headsails we aren't noticing any significant drop in performance except in the very lightest of breeze. However to compensate the new masthead runner is just brilliant!"
Significantly, two cruiser classes were won by boats powered by Hyde 'Warp Drive' woven sails, with the Muir brothers' Mirage 28 'Christina II' winning class 4, and George Scrivener's Salty Dog 'Joint Venture' winning class 6.
