After a highly successful Firefly Junior Cup on the Saturday, the competitors reconvened for the Elizabeth Cup on the Sunday.

The Race Officer, Donald Forbes, set a simple windward leeward course. With a gentle 5knt breeze and little current it was close at the first mark. Alex Davey crewed by Thomas Davey pulled away for a convincing lead. They were chased hard by a pack consisting of Jamie and Angus Mcewen, Ed and Sophie Smith as well as Alec and Ana Powel. Alex and Thomas took the honours followed by Jamie and Angus.

The second race started with a pack of three around the windward mark. Will and Polly Mason, with Jamie/ Angus and Ed and Sophie. On the first downwind leg Alex and Thomas managed to overhaul all the pack and pull through to the lead. Again their lead was not troubled. After 3 laps Alex and Thomas won with Ed and Sophie second.

The fleet paused for a quick lunch and with all races to count Alex and Thomas could not retire to the bar. Again with a good breeze the fleet made good progress to the windward mark. Unfortunately for Claire John and Phil Beaty they were given an extra obstacle as a rowing eight managed to moor up on the windward mark. A pack of 3 boats consisting of Alex/Thomas, Ed/Sophie and Jamie now crewed by William Mcewen had good battle all around the course and pulled away from the rest of the fleet. The second pack of Alec/ Ana and Will now crewed by Matthew Mason had a close tussle all the way around the course. At the end Alex and Thomas took the line honours again followed by Ed/Sophie then Jamie/ William.

Thank you to Tamesis for a great weekend and two hotly contested days on the water.

Overall Results: (top three)

1st Alex and Thomas Davey (Royal Harwich Yacht Club)
2nd Jamie and Angus/William McEwen (Oxford and Cambridge Sailing Society)
3rd Ed and Sophie Smith (Papercourt Sailing Club)
