RS200 SEAS Series Round 1 at Wembley Sailing Club

by Julian Bradley 21 Apr 2015 16:01 BST 19 April 2015

The rescheduled opener to the RS200 2015 SEAS series kicked off at Wembley SC on Sunday 19th, with some 20 entries – split 50/50 locals and visitors. We ran the usual Wembley gig – free breakfast before, free lunch afterwards sandwiching 3 back to back races, Mar Bar and water on the water.

Weather you'll recall was light to moderate Easterly, overcast. In race 1, Andy Peters slipped in from behind to take advantage of the dice between your correspondent and 'Call Me' Dave Jessop and win. He followed this with a horizon job in race 2. The dying breeze of race 3 saw Neil Barrett and Sophie Jones from Wanlip SC win from the Peterses then Joe Adams and Emma Lucas. Close racing throughout the fleet, everyone seemed terribly well-behaved. No pan-handling plop-sockets with bowsprits or fluffing the gun, and no one sunk. (Even my repaired boat is drier than a moth sandwich). Results and pictures attached.

Many thanks go to the Merlin Fleet (the co-ordinating talent of Anthony Rickaby in particular), Colin Brockbank (RO) and Marc Heritier (ARO), as well as the helpers in the galley, rescue boat, behind lenses – see the Wembley Sailing Club Facebook for more pictures.

Next up is Bough Beech, Saturday 25 April – details on the RS site.
