With the momentum firmly back in the UK Melges 24 Class, it is with great pleasure we can announce that the 2015 UK National and Open Championship will take place 5-7th September 2015.

The event is to be hosted at Suffolk Yacht Harbour and it is planned that racing will take place in Dovercourt Bay, which has been the venue of many different class championship and open events over the years.

Spanning over three days there is a ten race series planned on windward leeward courses.

This will be the first time that this event has been held for several years and we expect to see an excellent entry of at least 15 to 20 boats and hope also to attract some overseas entries.

Race Programme:

  • Friday 4th - Registration and crew weigh in, Craning in
  • Saturday 5th - Registration and crew weigh in, Briefing, 3 races (back to back)
  • Sunday 6th - 4 races (back to back)
  • Monday 7th - 3 races (back to back), Craning out, Prize giving

Aside from the on-water action, the class will be treated to Suffolk Yacht Harbour's excellent facilities and social programme which will see a Competitors BBQ and Party night included within the program.

Social Programme:

  • Friday 4th - HPYC bar open
  • Saturday 5th - Party night
  • Sunday 6th - Competitors BBQ
  • Monday 7th -Prizegiving

Entry Fees are (if paid before 5th August) £70. The late fee (5th August or after) is £90.

For those competitors coming from mainland Europe, the Stenaline Hook-of-Holland to Harwich is a short hop and then a 40min drive to the marina. This is a very easy and accessible service that has a number of sailings each day.

Otherwise, we are just off the A12: Suffolk Yacht Harbour, Levington, Ipswich, IP10 0LN

We hope to see as many of you on the start line as possible for what promises to be an awesome event.
