International Canoe End of Season Open at Oxford Sailing Club

by Gareth Caldwell 26 Oct 2014 20:02 GMT 26 October 2014

The fleet returned to their customary end of season venue for the last IC Open meeting of the season.

Even though some of the Worlds competitors' boats were still in the container in transit from San Francisco, boats were loaned, begged, stolen, or borrowed to achieve a starting line up of 16 boats. Those that couldn't find a canoe attended to support anyway... or was it just for the evening meal? With over 40 at the dining table on the Saturday night, I strongly suspect it was for the latter!

Congratulations to Simon Hotchin and his crew who ran some excellent training on the Friday, and 4 back to back races with a swift turn around in the challenging winds on the Saturday. Those collecting bottles of the finest wine were Dave Timpson, Tony Robertshaw and Roger Howell in the AC fleet, and Gareth Caldwell, Steve Clarke and Tony Marston in the IC fleet
