The south coast's largest festival of boating got off to a flying start this morning, with the PSP Logistics Clipper 70 taking pride of place at the annual Southampton Boat Show.
This year the festival's official charity is the Andrew Simpson's Sailing Foundation, which aims to remember the British Olympic gold medallist and help inspire young people to get involved in sailing.
The Clipper Race will be one of the largest clubs taking part in Bart's Bash on Sunday 21 September – a global sailing race which aims to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest sailing race in 24 hours (Multiple Venues).
For those interested in seeing what life on board a stripped down racing yacht is like, open boat tours will be available throughout the week, along with recruitment presentations for those interested in taking on the Clipper Race challenge.
