Now in its 56th year, the Isle of Sheppey Sailing Club's Round the Island Race will be held on 30th August 2014. The event is the longest dinghy and board race in Europe, and is designed to test sailing skills and endurance over a 40-mile course, including tidal sea, river & estuary sailing. The race is sailed clockwise around the island, starting and finishing at IOS Sailing Club at Sheerness, Kent.
This year promises to one of the best yet, with paddle-boarders and sail-powered kayaks joining the fleet of upwards of 100 dinghies and catamarans. Entry is £25 in advance or £30 on the day. Contact for more details.
