Blackwater SC's Cadet week is the highlight of the year for many of the club's younger members. This year 160 of them (and at least the same number of adult helpers) enjoyed some classic summer weather both on the estuary and also on the club's training lake. There were 70 boats in the 6 main racing fleets on the estuary whilst the others were split between the novice sailors mastering the basic skills in Optimists on the lake while the more experienced but less confident were in various training groups on the river.

Racing Group Winners:

Fast Handicap - James Crook & Frankie Ash (420)
Slow Handicap – Tom Segura (Laser Radial)
Topper - Harley Swann
Mirror - Ben Stewart & Nicky Clark
Optimist - Sophie Johnson
Monkey Group – Lizzie Docherty (Topper)

At the end of the week there was the usual race off in Toppers between the winners of the various fleets which was won by Harry Coday, who had earlier been elected as the new Cadet Commodore for 2014/15. The most competitive racing of the week was between 15 Mirrors in the Mums & Dads Mirror race where Dan Dixon & Lindsay O'Reilly proved uncatchable.

Evening events included roller skating, bouncy castles, the disco and the popular hog roast which catered for 300. An amazing 2800 rolls were consumed by the competitors & helpers over the five days! Now all the sailors and helpers have a week to recover before the main Club Week begins next weekend.
