Grafham Water Sailing Club RS Tera Race and Train Weekend

Rs Tera Sailors gathered at Grafham Water at the weekend for Grafhams first Race Train Event. Coaching was delivered by Simon Wigmore who provided some in depth training on roll tacking, most of the sailors were all having trouble with where to put their feet during the process.

Wind was sadly a little light so a game of Nerf Vortex Tera football was quickly arranged. The Royal Hospital School Team won with a golden goal against the England Team as the close quarters boat handling skills were put to the test.

A practice race followed with Tristan Richardson rolling out the winner. As the wind left the water it quickly became apparent that we might have the next Tom Daley in the ranks of the Tera Sailors; Joshua Davies could be part fish.

Race day followed with a 16 boat fleet. Harry Jones lead the Pro Fleet and Matthew Taylor battled with Harrison Pye in the Sport Fleet, the rest of the fleet was changing places as the races developed, Natasha Cubitt put in a confident display as she escaped the chatty boys at the back.

A break for lunch saw a few sailors cause some stress for their parents as they trialled the new RS Aero; Christmas is coming.

After lunch the battle continued with Match Racing in the Pro Fleet and the competition in Sport Fleet really tight between the top two and a tense battle between the next two.

The fleet sailed 4 races and just made it back to shore in time before the biblical Thunderstorm closed the lake, sadly the race officer didn't make it back in time and the presentation had to take place in the wet bar. Note to Race Officer: always bring spare clothes in case you get wet.

Thanks go to Simon Wigmore for some excellent coaching in testing conditions. And to the Grafham coxswain Andy for his support.
