The 2014 RS Tera Northern Travellers series drew to a close at South Windermere Sailing Club on 12 July. The series has seen a total of 62 helms compete, in a mix of Sport and Pro rigged dinghies, with 4 events held over the summer term, culminating in the one day event hosted by South Windermere SC on a gloriously sunny Saturday.

The series has been a huge success with some extremely close competition throughout the fleets. Coaching has been provided at each event to ensure that those that are new to racing get the chance to learn and develop and the progress made throughout the fleets showed just what a huge support the coaching team have been over the winter squad training and throughout the summer events. The fleet are being encouraged to get their applications in for the 2014 Winter Northern Squad Coaching which will run from November through to March and provide first class coaching at venues within the region.

Prizes were presented to all those who qualified for the series by competing in 3 or 4 of the events and the Northern team thank Magic Marine, Mike Saul Dinghy Services, Wave Clothing and Elliem Consulting for their generous sponsorship of the series. It's been a great summer and we can now concentrate on getting ready for the RS Tera National Championships, which are being held in the region this year, hosted by Derwent Reservoir SC. With a training camp being organised by the club from 18 to 20 August and racing 22 to 25 August the summer holidays will draw to a resounding close for these brilliant young sailors.

Final results showed Alistair Scott (Ripon SC) win the Pro fleet on countback from Peter Owen (Derwent Reservoir SC), with Ollie Blake (DRSC) in 3rd and Mark Donald (DRSC) 5th. Charlotte Scott (RSC) was first girl. In the Sport fleet Roscoe Martin (Ogston SC) took first place, hotly pursued by Jamie and Henry Rastrick (RSC) in 2nd and 3rd and fellow RSC member Tom Storey in 4th. Ellie Clark (RSC/DRSC) was first girl.

The competitors and supporters are very grateful to the series sponsors, Magic Marine, Mike Saul Dinghy Services, Wave Clothing and Elliem Consulting for their help with providing a wonderful range of prizes for the series qualifiers.
