The second Soto 40 World Championship will be held on July 6-12 in Valencia (Spain) where eight boats will be competing for the most important title of the Class.

The Soto 40s that will participate in the event are Glen Ellen XXII (FRA), Uon (POR), Noticia (ESP), Earlybird (GER), Alegre (IVB), Bigamist (POR) and Ngoni (GBR). The eighth fighter will be "Santander" (CHI), current Chilean champion of the Class. Needless to say, the teams will include some of the best international sailors, so the show in the water is guaranteed.

In addition, the Technical team is excellent. The Principal Race Officer is María Torrijo, International Judge and Umpire. The Jury will be presided by the Spanish Andrés Pérez (International Judge), the Portuguese Miguel Allen (International Judge and Umpire), the Argentinean Flavio Naveira (International Judge and Umpire), the British Sally Burnett (International Judge and Umpire) and the Spanish Ricardo García (International Judge and Umpire). Pablo Ferrer, Chief Measurer of the International Soto 40 Class, will be in charge of measuring.

The event headquarters is the Marina Real Juan Carlos I, which is a place deeply related to sailing for the reason that two America's Cup editions were held there, events that transformed the city of Valencia into one of the main tourist destinations in the Mediterranean. In fact, from 2005 and because of the 32° America's Cup, Valencia's nautical infrastructure was remodeled to organize high level races. And during the 32° and 33° America's Cup (celebrated in 2007 and 2010, respectively) Valencia proved that it meets the requirements for this kind of event.

The activity will start on Sunday 6 while racing will begin on Tuesday 8 at 1 pm. According to the Notice of Race, there is a maximum of 10 races scheduled for the event. All the courses will be windward – leeward.
