International Canoe Europa Cup at Loch Lomond Sailing Club - Day 4

by Gareth Caldwell 1 Aug 2013 23:12 BST 29 July - 2 August 2013

Races 5 and 6 got underway in bright blue sunshine, force 4, and the 30 degree heat that the British Isles was enjoying.... not! The IC fleet would just like to reassure he country that there will NOT be a water shortage in Scotland this summer... or for the foreseeable future if it rained like it did this morning. And there was no wind. But the bacon and black pudding (Stornaway's finest!) more than compensated.

Racing eventually started in a force 2, with big wind swings of over 40 degrees across the course. The second race was started quickly after the first, but in a dying breeze it was often the case of looking at the midges on the water to see if you were moving. The OD shortened course after one lap to he relief of all.

Well done to Robin and Arne who won races 5 and 6 in the AC fleet, and to Alistair and Colin in the IC fleet.

Overall standings remain the same.
