Sad and grey was the weather as was the mood among the 60 Starboat sailors learning that Andrew 'Bart' Simpson has left us in his best years in a fatal accident with the AC72 Artemis on Frisco Bay, and the participants were with him in a minute of silence. The ones that met him on the race course will never forget his open and friendly approach to anybody.
Much rain welcomed the 26 teams from 3 nations at the mountain-surrounded Lake Uri in Central Switzerland, and there was no chance for the traditional thermal breeze to build up. After some hours waiting, a surprisingly steady Westerly wind filled in and allowed to sail a race late in the afternoon in a force 2 breeze. Philipp Rotermund/Nils Hollweg (GER) won the race ahead of Christoph Burger/Renato Marazzi (SUI) and Jürg Wittich/Felix Trachsel (SUI).
