Combined Comet Classes at Kingsmead Sailing Club

An Open meeting for Comet Trios and Versas was held at Kingsmead SC on 23rd April. Both classes sailed in the same fleet with results determined by handicap. Weather was light rain with generally light (F1-2) and shifty winds; not the best of conditions.

The first race was won by Colin and Imogen Bright in a Versa on handicap after they had done a good job of staying with the faster Trios.

In the second race Eric Goodley and Bill Taylor were first off the start but slipped back as David and Richard Talbot slipped past and then Chris Boutle and Mary Andrews managed to take second place from the Goodley/Taylor boat on the line by the length of a spinnaker pole.

The third race was the decider. The Talbot boat led for the whole race until the last mark when the Boutle/Andrews boat squeezed ahead at the last mark and held on to win the race and the event.
