Noble Marine CCCA Comet Trio Inland Championship at Llangorse Sailing Club

by Tracie Padro 13 May 2022 06:16 BST 30 April - 1 May 2022

Eleven boats turned up to the beautiful setting of Llangorse lake for this year's Inland Championships which had the closest of finishes in both MK1 and MK2 classes.

Despite the light winds, the excellent Llangorse race management team managed to complete four of the scheduled five races plus the bonus of the Honeypot Race to the shore.

After the first day's racing, we had five individual race winners, often finishing across the two classes meaning the championship was wide open going into the second day. Despite the high stakes, it did not discourage a great turn out at the local pub to indulge into some great food, beer, and stories of those just missed wind shifts.

Day 2 and the wind was still very light. Only one championship race was sailed and a figure of eight course was set. It was a game of snake and ladders with the wind filling in from behind on the runs/reaches making the front runners work hard to keep their noses in front.

Eventually it was the brilliant teamwork of Scott Bonner & Lynn Harland that won the MK1 overall and Adrian & Tracie Padro that won the MK2 class.

The last race back in was the highly anticipated Honeypot Race, whereby the winners won a jar of local organic honey. Well done to Adrian & Jacob Stainislaus MK1 and Adrian & Tracie Padro MK2.

The next event is the National championships at Exe Sailing Club 5th - 7th August 2022.
