Optimist Open Barnt Green Sailing Club

by Rob Lennox 18 Apr 2005 20:22 BST 16 April 2005

Charlie Makepeace from Bowmoor was the convincing winner of the 2005 Barnt Green Optimist Open Meeting. In a fleet of 33 boats from 13 different clubs he recovered from a start line disqualification in race one to record two fine wins in the other races.

In second, last year's winner Tom Hayes of South Staffs had a very consistent scoreline of 3,2,2, beating the winner of the first race, James Hamer of Hayling Island on tiebreak.

The leading Barnt Green boat was Rory Jones in fourth, while club mate Rachel Lennox was first girl and first junior in ninth. Matt Foskett of Staunton Harold was second junior, his club mate Tessa Fowler was second girl, and Charli Lennox was third girl and third junior.

Hannah Lennox won the Silver Fleet of 9 boats, winning two races after the first had been won by Eleanor Davies of South Staffs, with Alice Pickworth of the home club in third.
