The Draycote Dash will kick off the SailJuice Winter Series on November 24-25. Online entry is now open for the event at Draycote Water Sailing Club in the Midlands, for what is set to be a great opener for the series.

The schedule is for a minimum of four handicap races on the Saturday, followed by a 100-minute double points non-discardable pursuit race on the Sunday.

Dash organiser Chris Gandy said: "Last season's event was very well attended despite being rescheduled due to the low water level and the 80 boats that entered enjoyed close racing in champagne conditions. We may not be able to guarantee similar weather at this time of year but we can guarantee a full lake and great racing on one of the best stretches of water in the Midlands."

The Dash is open to all dinghies plus challenger trimarans. Catamarans are also welcome within Draycote Water SC's 5.5m x 2.5m box rule.

Saturday's racing will be on trapezoid courses with a briefing at 10:15am ready for an 11am start, with the aim of fitting in as many races as possible, followed by food and a late bar for all the banter ahead of Sunday's pursuit.

Online entry, NOR and SIs are available and early entry is encouraged to give the club an idea of numbers in advance. Pre-entry is £30 for a doublehander or £25 for a singlehander, while entry on the day is £35/£30 respectively.

The GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series starts with the Dash and goes on to include the Yorkshire Dales SC Brass Monkey, Grafham Grand Prix, Bloody Mary at Queen Mary SC, Steve Nicholson Trophy at Northampton SC and John Merricks Tiger Trophy at Rutland SC, with four results from the six to count, and the Tiger Trophy being non discardable.

SailJuice Winter Series organiser Andy Rice said: "For the past three years it has been known as the SailJuice Global Warm-Up, incorporating some of the UK's best-known dinghy handicap classic events. Now, with the support of new title sponsor GJW Direct Insurance we've changed the name of the Series, but the principal goals remain the same: to get sailors from many different classes out racing during the winter, and to find out who's the best handicap racer in the country."

The GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series 2012/13 can be entered at www.SailJuiceSeries.com, and early entrants get put into a prize draw, with the first draw taking place before the Draycote Dash, and other 'early entry' prize draws being held before Christmas.
