The sky was grey and the wind was coming from the South at some 16 knots gusting 20. The tide was flooding so the water would be reasonably flat considering. 22 boats had signed on tonight, 7 Fast fleet, 5 Wayfarers, 5 Medium fleet and 5 Slow fleet.

Simon Ward was the race officer tonight assisted by Sylvia Weger. The courses were decided and set to send them all out into the Western Solent again. After a slight delay the various fleets were off on their respective courses. The fast fleet was off at 1834 followed at 3 minute intervals by the Wayfarers then the Medium fleet and finally the Slow fleet.

In the Fast fleet the first boat to complete the course was the RS 800 of Luke & Emma McEwen, they were followed by Nigel Walbank in his Musto Skiff then John Cooper & Becci Wigley in an RS 400. In the Wayfarer Fleet only two of the boats actually finished the course. Marcus Malanaphy & Robin Milledge followed by Paul Fox & Terry Hewson. There were three finishers in the Medium fleet, Stuart Watson came home first in his Blaze followed by Richard Russell in his RS 100, third over the water was Sean Ward in his Laser. The Slow fleet fared better as far as the finishers were concerned with all 5 finishing. First over the water was Peter Bennett in his Laser 4.7 followed by Robby Boyd in his RS Terra.

The results after the computer had finished its bit became:

Fast Fleet
1st Luke & Emma McEwen, RS 800
2nd David Gautier, Contender
3rd John Cooper & Becci Wigley, RS 400

Medium Fleet
