Sailing Club pushes the balcony out
Lymington Town Sailing Club (LTSC) has embarked on a £150,000 extension scheme to enlarge its main club room, the Solent Room and provide a balcony with stunning views across the seawater baths and the Solent to the Isle of Wight. Work should be complete before the summer.
Commodore Simon Ward told a packed extraordinary general meeting called to endorse the scheme on
Saturday (February 26) that the club’s membership had grown by more than 50 per cent in the past seven years and this expansion would add at least 15 per cent to the floor area and with the inclusion of a new fire escape, the club will be able to host larger gatherings. The kitchen facilities will also be upgraded as part of the scheme.
The work will be carried out by club member Craig Wells’ construction company to a design by architects Western Design of Blandford. Project manager Jim Sey told the meeting the scheme would also provide for future expansion.
