Folkboats return to the Southampton Boat Show

Last year "Miss Folkboat" won the hearts of the visitors, why not see for yourself just what they fell in love with at this year’s Southampton Boat Show.
With all the looks of a traditional sailing yacht yet none of the maintenance, the Nordic Folkboat is a beautiful compromise with a grp clinker built hull and teak trimmings. At just over 25 feet and weighing in at just under 2 tonnes, Folkboats are flocking to the south coast particularly Lymington and this increase in interest has prompted Folkebådcentralen, the Danish Folkboat builder to exhibit at this year’s Southampton Boat Show to show the world what a wonderful small racer/cruiser boat she is. Available in either standard, cruising or full racing spec and competitively priced, this class has plenty to attract all types of sailors. With growing racing fleets in Lymington and Hamble, this one-design class offers competitive yet friendly racing with a range of events organised on the south coast including participation in Round the Island, the Nationals at Yarmouth in August and the Walcon Cup, an international team racing event held over the August bank holiday in Yarmouth. Alternatively you can cruise in comfort either on your own or join other fellow cruisers on rallies organised through the Folkboat Association.
Come along to Stand C17, meet the builder and members of the Association and see for yourself how attractive the Folkboat really is. For more details on the Folkboat’s features, visit the builder’s website at www.folkboat.dk.
If you can’t make the show, please feel free to contact the Folkboat Class secretary, Peter Ament at Cheldene House, Woodsend, Albourne, Marlborough, Wilts, SN8 2NP 01672 841247, folkboatuk@mcmail.com or visit the class website www.zyworld.com/folkboats.
