B14 Nationals at Porthpean Sailing Club – Day 2

In a shifty force 2-3 the B14 fleet went out for races 5 - 8 of the 10 race National Championships at Porthpean sponsored by: Seavolution, Ronstan, Ullman Sails, North Sails, Vandercraft Trailers and Sailboats and Kingfisher Ropes, Harken and CPC Boatworks.

Race 5 was led by Mike Bees and Ferrett who "fluked it again" (direct quote by Ferrett) keeping off the challenge from Mark Barnes and Paul Smith (North Sails/ Seavolution) and Mark Emmett and Alan Stuart in Axciom.

Race 6 was won by Bees & Ferrett from Barnes & Smith in second and David Hayes and Tom Pygall and their resurrected boat after replacing the mast and mainsail following a dismasting the previous day.

Race 7 was won by Dave Hayes and Tom Pygall (North Sails) with a close fought finish from Bees and Ferrett, and third place of Mark Watts and Chris Bishop in Ullman Sails. Conditions were increasingly shifty making life difficult for the excellent race officers.

Race 8 was won by Mike Bees and Ferrett, with Barnes and Smith snatching second place from the jaws of victory. Third were Crispin Taylor and Guy Harrill in "Not Another ASBO".

After a great day's sailing the tired B14 fleet is going to enjoy a curry and disco to celebrate their 25th anniversary.
