On Thursday evening members of the Folkboat Association and their guests were entertained by David Gredley at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club.
David, a retired surveyor, has spent over five years building a wooden Nordic Folkboat. This is the first Folkboat to have been built by an amateur for over 20 years. David's illustrated talk covered the whole project from learning how to sharpen tools on the foundation boat building course at Lyme Regis to launching the boat at Weymouth Marina in 2008.
During his talk had paid tribute to help he received from a number of craftsmen but in particular from Jack Chippendale, a major boatbuilder and innovator since WWII.
