Loch Lomond’s open meeting for Flying Fifteens attracted twenty boats from Scotland and the North of England, on the 2/3 October.
Gusty and shifty breezes on the Saturday made one Fifteen turn turtle in one of three exciting races. Sunday saw winds rising only to moderate for the two remaining races. Royal Windermere’s Steve Goacher and Phil Evans overcame both the winds and the opposition with wins in every race, chalking up impressive winning margins, while one of a big group of Derwent boats, Robbie Storrar and Paul Averlay took a trio of second places to take second overall, ahead of clubmates Terry Crumpton and John Mathie.
Overall Results:
1st Steve Goacher & Phil Evans, Royal Windermere, 4 pts
2nd Robbie Storrar & Paul Averlay, Derwent Res, 10 pts
3rd Terry Crumpton & John Mathie, Derwent Res, 13 pts
4th John Hardisty & Roger Errington, Derwent Res, 18 pts
5th Simon Robinson & David Vasey, Derwent Res, 18 pts
