A fleet of twelve N12’s joined the Larks and Fireflys at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club for a two day open meeting on the 6th and 7th of June. The fleet contained four former National champions, so it was going to be a tough event to win. PRO Graham Ireland devised five different courses which, along with puffs and fluctuating shifts kept the competitors on their toes.
Tom Stewart and Liz Ross used their considerable experience and knowledge to score three firsts and two second places in a variety of conditions to win from Graham Camm and Zoe Ballantine who won one race and had led another only to sail the wrong course. Antony and Jo Giffords navigation was spot on and they sailed well to win the complicated second race.
Our thanks go to Graham Ireland and the team at RHYC for an excellent weekend of racing with a top social which included Sumo suit, wrestling, giant Connect Four and some very competitive bar boat racing along with great catering and on site camping, they even organised the sun in time for the prize giving and tea on the Lawn.
