New IRM 9m Shakermaker officially launched

This evening at the Royal Air Force Yacht Club in Hamble the official launch party was held for the new Ker designed IRM 9m yacht 'Shakermaker'. Owner Paul Churchill's wife Victoria named the boat and poured the champagne over the bow.

Present at the ceremony were the designer Jason Ker and the build team of Simon Crawford who took time off from finishing the IRM 35 they are currently building.

Shakermaker will be out practicing on Saturday, not taking part in the Round-the-Island as Sunday sees the first inshore racing in the English team Commodore's Cup trials where she will be racing against her sistership Quokka for the small boat place in the team.

IRM racing in the Solent The Royal Thames Y.C. hosted the second event of the IRM Class season. The David Diehl Trophy is contested over four regattas throughout the summer. IRM season opener Last weekend provided a cracking start to the IRM Class season with the first weekend of the Warsash Big Boat Series. 15 boats have entered the series and the entry list shows seven Farr 45s, four Swan 45s and a sprinkling of other designs.
