British Moth Bossoms Cup at Medley Sailing Club

The sun shone on the fleet competing for the prestigious Medley Moth Bossoms Cup. The day's racing contributing towards the BMBA Traveller series.

With the river running fast due to the recent heavy rains and the light winds, the fleet for the four races needed to hug the meadow bank to minimise the adverse stream up river. The position of the buoys however necessitated crossing the stream for a rounding. Those that found the correct line benefitted hugely and made up ground on the others.

Tim Davison consistently winning all four races managed the tricky conditions, with consummate skill - luck really! However racing was very tight and competitive with places changing throughout the laps. The two ladies had a tight battle, with Abbey scoring a 3rd in the first race and Elaine a close battle for 3rd place in the last race but pipped into 5th. The breeze picked up towards the end of the day to give a great conclusion to a very pleasant event.

Racing in wonderful conditions on the Thames in Oxford Fourteen British Moths hotly contested the Medley Moth Bowl on 10 June. Four races were sailed in wonderful conditions, with plenty of wind from the North East, i.e. off Port Meadow. This gave exciting sailing to say the least. The fog quickly clears and the wind fills in Saturday 22nd of April saw the return of the British Moth fleet to Leamington Spa for their first Open of 2023.
