8:28 - Star - Race 10 Finish

Going into the Star medal race Sweden's Freddie Loof & Anders Ekstrom are on 33 points, Iain Percy & Bart Simpson are on 35 points, Brazil's Robert Scheidt & Bruno Prada are on 47 points and France's Xavier Rohart & Pascal Rambeau are on 51 points. That's it for today - heartache for Nick Dempsey, elation for Bryony Shaw and a really solid day for Iain & Bart.

8:21 - Star - Race 10 Finish

Flavio Marazzi & Enrico De Maria from Switzerland come through to win the race. Robert Scheidt & Bruno Prada from Brazil finish 3rd, Great Britain's Iain Percy & Andrew Simpson finish 6th, Sweden's Freddie Loof & Anders Ekstrom finish 7th.

8:07 - Star - Race 10 Update

Iain & Bart have held 4th at the final windward mark. Robert Scheidt & Bruno Prada have moved up to second in the race.

8:00 - Tornado - Race 10 Finish

Leigh McMillan & Will Howden have finished 12th. They're through to the medal race but unfortunately their medal chances are over.

7:55 - Star - Race 10 Update

Iain & Bart drop a place down the run - they're now in fourth. The Brazilians and Swedes are right behind them.

7:50 - RS:X Men - Race Finish

That's gold for Tom Ashley of New Zealand, silver for Julien Bontemps of France, bronze for Shahar Zubari of Israel. Nick finishes agonisingly in fourth.

7:48 - RS:X Men - Race Finish

HKG first, ISR second, NZL third, FRA fourth, CHN fifth, BRA sixth, GBR seventh. Heartache for Nick Dempsey.

7:46 - RS:X Men - Race Update

Dempsey rounds behind the French sailor Julien Bontemps - can he overtake him to get bronze?

This is going to be a one lap race! Nick's got to do his work faster!

Nick Dempsey has work to do - with positions as they are Israeli sailor Shahar Zubari will take bronze from Nick.

At the windward mark, HKG first, NZL second, ISR third, CHN fourth, FRA fifth, ESP sixth, GBR seventh. The French sailor Julien Bontemps fall off!

7:36 - Star - Race 10 Update

Iain & Bart round the windward mark in third. Robert Scheidt & Bruno Prada round 5th, Fredrik Loof & Anders Ekstrom 6th.

7:31 - RS:X Men - Race Start

Racing's underway - I shouldn't have gone to make my coffee! It's a straight shoot-out between France's Julien Bontemps, Britain's Nick Dempsey and New Zealand's Tom Ashley in this fleet.

7:27 - Tornado - Race 10 Update

The Brits have dropped back down to 9th at the second windward mark.

7:18 - Star - Race 10 Start

They're underway. Iain & Bart go into this race just 3 points behind Freddie Loof & Anders Ekstrom. Robert Scheidt & Bruno Prada are in 3rd, 15 points behind the British pair.

7:13 - Tornado - Race 10 Update

Leigh & Will move up to 7th at the leeward mark. The Germans continue to lead.

7:04 - Tornado - Race 10 Update

Leigh McMillan & Will Howden round the windward mark in 9th. The race is led by Johannes Polgar & Florian Spalteholz.

7:00 - Tornado - Race 10 Start

The final Tornado race (before the medal race) is now underway.

Gold - China - Jian Yin
Silver - Italy - Alessandra Sensini

6:51 - RS:X Women - Bryony Shaw celebrations

Argh! Bryony just said something a word she really shouldn't have on a live BBC interview! Adrian Chiles describes the interview as 'like Gwyneth Paltrow but with genuine emotion'. Let's hope she's let off - she's worked her socks off for this.

6:49 - Star - Race 9 Finish

Fredrik Loof & Anders Ekstrom win race nine. Iain & Bart have climbed back up to second!

6:47 - Star - Race 9 Update

Iain Percy & Andrew Simpson have dropped to fifth at the final windward mark. Overall leaders Fredrik Loof & Anders Ekstrom are leading this race.

6:45 - RS:X Women - Medal Race Finish

Alessandra Sensini wins the race, Great Britain's Bryony Shaw finishes second and China's Jian Yin finishes third. That's gold for China, silver for Italy and bronze for Great Britain!

6:39 - RS:X Women - Medal Race Update

Sensini (ITA) leads at the second slalom mark, there's an incident between Alabau and Shaw! Alabau has to do the turns - she tried to go in at the mark when she had no rights!

Sensini's got a big lead at the first slalom mark, Alabau second, Shaw third, Yin fourth.

Sensini rounds the leeward mark first - it's now just the slalom to the finish.

Bryony Shaw seems to have lost out to Alabau and Sensini - did she had to do a penalty from the windward mark?

If the Chinese sailor Jian Yin finishes fifth or below and Bryony Shaw could win gold!

Bryony Shaw leads at the windward mark! She just squeezes inside Marina Alabau. Italian Alessandra Sensini is third.

6:27 - RS:X Women - Medal Race Update

Bryony Shaw is right on the tail of Marina Alabau as they approach the windward mark.

6:20 - RS:X Women - Medal Race Update

The run took all of 2 minutes. Alabau leads, Shaw second, Israeli Maayan Davidovich has moved up to third, Sensini fourth, Yin five. If Shaw can get one more sailor between her and Sensini she can climb to silver!

6:21 - Tornado - Race 9 Finish

Leigh McMillan & Will Howden are also hitting form. Second in race 8 and third in race 9. They're still in with an outside chance of a medal.

6:20 - RS:X Women - Medal Race Update

The leaders round the windward mark; Spainish sailor Marina Alabau leads, Britain's Bryony Shaw is second, Italian Alessandra Sensini third and China's Jian Yin fourth. This would give gold to Yin, silver to Sensini, bronze to Shaw.

6:17 - Star - Race 9 Update

Data is just in from the first leeward mark. Iain & Bart are leading!

6:16 - Star - Race 8 Finish

Iain Percy & Andrew Simpson are hitting form at the right time - that's their second win in a row!

6:14 - RS:X Women - Medal Race Start

A good start for Bryony Shaw - she heads off on starboard tack, the fleet are generally tacking off to port though.

Good morning! The women are about to start. There was a general recall at the first attempt which was lucky for Bryony Shaw as she looked to be over the line.

US Team Day Twelve Review
Last day for American teams USA Stars and Tornados sailed three races today in gorgeous weather. In eight to fifteen knots and sunshine they got their races started on time at 11:00 a.m. Unfortunately, the results were not so sunny for the two American boats. Posted on 20 Aug 2008
