North West Norfolk Week day 1 & 2 at Hunstanton Sailing Club

The weekend saw Hunstanton host the opening 2 days of this years North West Norfolk Week sponsored by King's Lynn Audi with over 70 boats competing. The weekend saw perfect sunshine over both days with force 2 winds on Saturday and force 3 on Sunday.

National 12

29 National 12s made the trip with Graham Camm crewed by Zoe Ballantyne winning Saturdays racing. Sunday saw a new winner in the shape of Jon Ibbotson and Charlotte Stewart.

Enterprise

The Enterprise fleet saw close racing throughout the weekend with Tim Coleman crewed by Joanne Coleman and Jonti Mason crewed by Bryony Mason each winning a day and being the bridesmaid in the other.

Laser

Hunstanton sailor Ian Holland won both days in the Laser class with Michael Ettershank coming in second on Saturday and Nigel Blake taking the runner up prize on Sunday.

Handicap

The handicap fleet saw the biggest turnout of the weekend which was split into asymmetric and non asymmetric fleets. Phillip Highfield sailing with Tamsin Butcher dominated the weekend in their RS500. In the non asymmetric fleets Saturday saw John Peters sail his RS300 to victory in the lighter winds on Saturday with Duncan Ellis winning in his Contender on Sunday in the stronger breeze.

Such an early start, and such a lot of wind Day four of Norfolk week was met with an early start - 06.45 for the first start - however both fleets had reasonable numbers, with six in the N12 fleet, and ten in the Allcomers fleet. Posted on 1 Aug 2023

The fleet move on to Brancaster Staithe, with the conditions still windy Day 3 of Norfolk Week saw the beginning of two days of sailing a Brancaster Staithe. The conditions were still windy, but much less than previous races at Snettisham Beach. Posted on 1 Aug 2023
