by Eddie Pope 23 Jul 2008 14:25 BST 19-20 July 2008

40 boats attended for the CSSC Dinghy Championships hosted by Netley Cliff SC on Southampton Water. There was a wide range of classes, with PYs from 920 (RS600) to 1432 (Cadet).

Saturday saw gusts of F5-6. Peter Jones in his Blaze won race one, followed by Paul and Julie Rayson (RS200) and Martin Hughes (Finn). In race two Mark Maskell (Solo) came first, followed by Martin Hughes and Peter Jones.

Third race of the day was taken by Martin Hughes, thus leaving him first overnight.

The evening’s entertainment consisted of the traditional Netley Cliff barbeque and band.

After a wait the wind filled in to a respectable F3 and two races were held. In the first, Martin Hughes once again won and claimed a commanding lead for the overall trophy, with Sue Antonelli and Sarah Skirton (RS200) in second and Vanda Young (Solo) in third. In the final race, the same three redistributed the places: 1. Vanda Young, 2. Sue Antonelli, 3. Martin Hughes.

Overall Results:

1 - Martin Hughes - Finn - Warsash SC
2 - Peter Jones - Blaze - Felpham SC
3 - Mark Maskell - Solo - Fisher’s Green SC

The Littleton Bell for the top ranked Club (top 6 boats) went to Fisher’s Green SC.
