The Mirror, the world's most popular double handed sailing has introduced many to sailing. Of the 70,000+ in existence, many have been built by amateurs at home, providing a cost effective way into sailing.

These days, Mirrors are now popular as production GRP boats, but the Mirror Class Association (MCA) has not forgotten their roots and are also encouraging wood building from kits.

At the 2008 Dinghy Show, MCA launches its own jig, allowing the amateur builder to reliably produce a fast shape. The new MCA jig has been produced by top wood boat builder, Alistair Duffin, who will also be at the show building the first Mirror in the new jig. Alistair, helped by Mirror members will demonstrate how easy and satisfying it is to build a Mirror. If you have any questions about building or repairing Mirrors, head for the MCA stand

For those who like a boat off the shelf and ready to perform, the new Mk3 Winder GRP production Mirror will also be on show, as tested in the latest issue of Yachts and Yachting. Alongside a typical club Mirror for £1200, demonstrating the wide range of options of getting into Mirror sailing.
