Phenomenal P&B race team sign an exciting four year sponsorship deal with Gul International
Britain’s biggest action watersport company Gul International is excited to announce that the Pinnell and Bax race team have signed a four-year deal with them starting in January 2008.
The four year program brings together two of the biggest companies in British sailing and will build on Gul’s work and advancement in garment technology achieved so far through the partnership with Skandia Team GBR. It has opened up a whole new channel for research and development alongside the Skandia Team GBR crew. The experience of the P&B sailors will bring a host of new ideas and perspectives to the table and undoubtedly enable Gul to push its performance sailing ranges even further.
P&B Race Team manager Dave Wade comments:
“P&B pride themselves on working with the best - the best sailors and the best kit - which is why they are delighted to have some new team members aboard the Race Team for 2008. Joining new members James Wallis and David Pain in the Optimist fleet are also new sponsors Gul International. Gul are at the forefront of development in dinghy clothing technology and were recently appointed official suppliers to Skandia British Olympic Sailing Team. “
The Pinnell and Bax race team was started 11 years ago by the late Steve Nicholson, who conceived the idea of bringing together elite sailors from a variety of fields to form one super squad that would undeniably keep one step ahead of the opposition. Today’s team consists of some of the biggest names in racing including the highly respected Multi World Champion 505 sailor Ian Pinnell and three times National Flying Fifteen Champion Alan Bax. The in-house team also consists of National Scorpion Champion Dave Wade, who has also been placed at International and European level. Another key figure in the P&B Race Team is six times National 12 National Champion Tom Stewart. Young star David Grant currently is ranked no1 in the country in the Optimist class after a string of successes and a second place at last years Nationals. At 14 he still has two seasons left in this division.
Dave Wade continues:
“When you are on the water you want to concentrate totally on sailing the boat to the best of your ability, we need to be able to rely totally on the kit we use be that spars, ropes, fittings or clothing, working with Gul gives us that confidence to get on and sail the boat.”
