1-9 December 2007
The Metre Shed based at Universal Marina and home to the largest collection of managed Metre Boats will be exhibiting at The Earls Court Boat Show this December.
The International Metre boat classes were chosen to compete for every major inshore trophy in the 20th Century, from America's Cup to Olympics. Come and find out more about the rejuvenation and development of the rule in 21st century. 2008 sees 101 years of the rule and the launch of the International 8 metre Miss U!
Centre stage on the stand will be Caprice, Paul Smiths 1946 McGruer classic 6 metre. Caprice following a hard year of competition has just had a birthday and will be on view in all her glory.
The Metre Shed will also be displaying a time line of the history of the Metre Classes showing the development over the past 100 years from the birth of the rule in 1907 to Olympic selection, Americas Cup, The Centenary Regatta in Cowes 2007 and much more.
The concept drawings of the new modern 8 metre designed by Fauroux for Avia Willment will also be on display for all to admire. With a stunning appearance and magnificent lines from the leading metre boat design office, Miss U will be the boat to watch in 2008.
Tuesday from 3pm The Metre Shed will host the Metre Boat Reunion, with members and owners past, present and future welcome to join the party and discuss their passion while enjoying Champagne and canapés.
Thursday from 3pm will be a chance to meet the specialists; leading persons involved with class will be on hand to answer your questions and discuss the intricacies of the Metre Boats, from the finite points of the rules, through logistics and event planning, to restoration and repair.
We look forward to seeing you there.
