Blue skies and an absence of wind greeted fourteen home boats and eight visitors at Redesmere’s Laser Grand Prix 2007. After a lengthy postponement racing finally got under way in light, shifting winds which challenged the fleet throughout the rest of the day.

Race One saw a battle between Adrian Sandilands (Dovestone) and Tim Lowe (RSC) for the lead with Russell Lewis (Barnt Green), Joe Hanson (RSC) and Hugh Hatfield (Budworth) not far behind. Lowe’s knowledge of his home water eventually prevailed and he crossed the line first followed by Sandilands, Lewis and Hanson.

For Race Two Lowe recovered from a poor start to take the lead on lap 2 and stayed there up to the finish to guarantee victory in the event. Hanson took second place with Sandilands third and Ben Arnold (RSC) fourth.

With the late start Race Three was held back to back with Race Two and competition for the minor places was keen. With Lowe content to cruise the lead was disputed amongst Chris Day (RSC), Hanson and Sandilands. Day looked to have a great chance and led for most of the race but the Redesmere wind shifts played their part and Hanson snatched the lead on the last lap and held on for the win ahead of Day, Sandilands and Lowe.
