Tornado Europeans at Gran Canaria - Day 2

by Event Website 10 Mar 2004 08:22 GMT

French sailors Olivier Backes and Laurent Voiron are maintaining their lead at the Tornado Europeans at Gran Canaria. The Spanish entry Fernando Echavarri and Antón Paz have dropped to 3rd position at the expense of British sailors Leigh McMillan and Mark Bulkeley.

In the Open rankings Darren Bundoch and John Forbes are leading overall but on equal points to Olivier Backes and Laurent Voiron.

The wind was a steady northerly force 2 (8-10 knots) with a calm sea and sand blowing in occasionaly from the Sahara.

These fantastic conditions gave the chance to enjoy the two schdeuled windward-leeward races near San Cristóbal and the La Laja tunnel.

Results after Day 2: (including non-European entries)
