Tour Voile 2000

by Lisa Walker, MHL on 31 Jul 2000
Barlo Plastics, winners of the Tour Voile 2000, had one last race to complete before the
prize giving ceremony tonight where they will receive the Tour Voile cup from Manfred
Ramspacher, director of Tour Voile.
Today's Postlogue Race, a non-points scoring race, was won by Swiss team Bienne
Voile, after Barlo Plastics uncharacteristically missed a mark whilst they were leading.
Perhaps as a result of one too many celebratory toasts last night!

André de Smet, managing director of Barlo Plastics sailed with Adrian Stead and the
team on the Barlo Plastics Mumm 30 today, and said "I don't think it could have gone
any better, and Barlo Plastics are very proud to be associated with the winning team"

Tonight at the huge prize giving dinner, Adrian Stead and his team will become the proud
owners of a brand new car, a Seat Leon, which had to be ordered specially for the British
team, with the steering wheel on the right hand side.

As well as they new car, the team will receive prizes from Tour Voile sponsors, including
Sony and AGF.

Preparations are already under way for Tour Voile 2001, and it will be interesting to see if
this victory by Adrian Stead will change the way many of the teams prepare for this
fantastic event.
