Sydney sees Shockwave

potentially fastest maxi yacht, Shockwave, in Sydney Superyacht Regatta 2000 on
Sydney Harbour next Wednesday, September 13.

Shockwave, a Reichel/Pugh-designed 80-footer owned by Sydney-based New Zealand
yachtsman Neville Crichton, made a sensational debut at the Hamilton Island Race
Weeek in north Queensland two weeks ago, taking line honours in every race and
winning the Big Boat Division overall on handicap.

An early favourite for line honours in the 2000 Telstra Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race,
Shockwave is one of several Sydney-based maxi yachts invited to compete in the
Sydney Superyacht Regatta along with visiting superyachts, both sail and power.

Organised by the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia,
the Royal Motor Yacht Club and the Rozelle Bay Superyacht Marina will be a showcase
of superyachts visiting Sydney for the Olympic Games.

Never before has Sydney witnessed such a fleet of vessels on the harbour and this will
be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see some of the world's most glamorous vessels in
action.

The program will start with a Superyacht Parade from 2pm, followed by a yacht race at
3.30pm.

Both motor and sailing superyachts will participate, including the visiting 34m motor
yacht Galaxy and the historic sailing yacht Cambria, as well as the new Shockwave and
Australia's famous maxi, Brindabella.

The Superyacht Parade will start at Shark Island, with the fleet pasing Neilson Park to
Vaucluse Point, then turning back down the harbour to pass Bradley's Head and around
Fort Denison to Clark Island, past Point Piper and back to Rose Bay.

The sailing race starts and finishes at a line between Shark Island and Taylor's Bay, with
the fleet sailing a course past Neilson Park to Manly, rounding the North Harbour Manly
buoys and Fort Denison to the finish.

The event is sponsored by Pearlautore with Olympic jeweler Ann Middleton, while
Oceanfast, Australia's award winning superyacht builder, have sponsored the trophies,
valued at $AUS 35,000.

The presentation cocktail party will be held in the evening at the Liquidity restaurant at
the Rozelle Bay Superyacht Marina.

Guests at the cocktail party will be in the running to "go for gold" and win a $AUS 20,000
string of rare South Sea pearls.
