New JOG Trophy for 31.7s in 2006

by Andy Phelps 25 Jan 2006 15:33 GMT Today

We are delighted to announce that there will now be a dedicated JOG (Junior Offshore Group) trophy for the Best Beneteau First 31.7 in 2006.

The trophy will be called "The Heritage Figaro Cup" to reflect the shared hull design of the 31.7 and the Figaro, and will be awarded at the JOG annual dinner in November 2006.

This is fantastic news for the 31.7s and reflects their increasing numbers within the JOG fleet where they are now threatening to displace the Sigma 33s and 38s as the largest class.

2006 promises to be an exciting year for the 31.7s as the new JOG class bandings have resulted in the 31.7s rating as the fastest boats in Class 5.

This means the 31.7s should get the new wind and make the tidal gates ahead of the other boats, where in previous years they have sometimes been caught out at the lower end of Class 4.

Thank you to Peter Chartres (JOG Secratary) and Paul Harding (JOG Vice Captain and owner of 31.7 Electron) for their assistance with organising the trophy.

See www.317.org.uk for more information on the 2006 plans for 31.7 and www.jog.org.uk for more information about the Junior Offshore Group.
