US Olympic Sailing Team on-the-water debriefs

In preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games the US Olympic Sailing Team is running small clinics with their top sailors throughout the year and was looking for the best way to view the races live and debrief directly on the water with their iPad.

US Sailing turned to the TracTrac Club service to support their on-the-water debriefs. Grant Spanhake, Technical Director for the US Olympic sailing team explains how the use of TracTrac helps to improve their clinics:
“The introduction of trackers for our youth development and Olympic team has been a been a huge improvement on understanding tactics and strategy. The fact that we can view on the water certainly speeds up the learning process. What used to take days, now we can learn in one session. “

Leandro Spina, US Sailing, Olympic Coach adds:

“We can also learn about tacking and gybing angles, and time to reach top speed after a maneuver. Sailors and coaches love it.”

With the addition of US Olympic Sailing, TracTrac is now supporting the 2016 Rio Olympic campaigns of Germany, The Netherlands, China and United States.

National Sailing Leagues start

The success of the National Sailing League concept is going from big to huge.

Only two years after the start of the innovative sailing league format in Germany (the Deutsche Segel-Bundesliga) and the kickoff of the SAILING Champions League in October 2014 in Copenhagen, many new countries are following and are establishing their own sailing club competitions.

The national league actively brings the clubs to the fore as competitors thus constituting the highest echelon of performance in sailing at club level. This makes it the ideal vehicle for members to represent the club, strengthen the club identity, generate visibility locally and provide a stepping-stone into high-performance sailing for young members.

Just over the next couple of weeks TracTrac will be providing live tracking for the start of the sailing leagues in Germany, Denmark and Russia – and more leagues will kick off in other countries during the course of 2015.
