Youth Olympic teams to be selected at Sail Brisbane 2014

Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron is pleased to announce that the 11th annual Sail Brisbane regatta will include selection for Oceania Sailing Federation sailors to represent their countries at the second Nanjing 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games in the single handed Byte dinghy class.
The Oceania region encompasses Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and the Pacific Island nations north to Guam. The region can send six Byte sailors to the games - three girls and three boys - chosen from any of the OSAF member nations.
There will be fierce competition for selection from many of the region's top youth sailors from the likely 30 Bytes competing at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron this coming Easter, April 17 – 21, 2014.
The Youth Olympics will be held in Nanjing China in August this year.
Sail Brisbane, now firmly established at RQYS over the Easter long weekend is Queensland's largest annual dinghy regatta and continues to grow.
This year the regatta will incorporate the state championships for all the '9er' classes - the 29er, the 49er and the 49er FX.
Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron Commodore Kevin Miller says "Here at Royal Queensland we pride ourselves not only on the professionalism of our race management, but on being the most welcoming club in Australia.
"It is great to host this event as it caters for people of all ages from youth through to grand master age sailors. We hope to see three generations of some families competing here."
Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron is located at Manly, Brisbane.
The regatta runs from Thursday 17th to Monday 21st April and is open to Optimists, Sabots, Bytes, Flying 11s, 125, 420s, 29ers, 49ers, 49er FXs, BIC technos, RX-S, Kiteboards, Hobie 16s and all three Laser rig classes as well as for the first time, an all boats division.
